Hunter Education Requirement

Residents of British Columbia who are 10 years of age and older and wish to obtain a CORE Graduate Certificate and Fish and Wildlife ID are required to complete a hunter education program.

Students have the options to achieve their hunter education certification:

  1. Register for the Online Hunter Education Program with HUNTERcourse.com
  2. Register for a CORE (Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education) Program taught by a BCWF CORE Examiner

After completing either course, students will still need to participate and complete 2 final exams with a BCWF CORE Examiner to finalize training.

Minimum Age Regulations

Youth (ages 10 to 17 inclusive) who participate in hunting in British Columbia must be accompanied by, and be under the close supervision of, an adult (18 years or older) who holds a valid hunting licence and meets other prescribed qualifications. "Accompanied" under the Wildlife Act means to remain in the company of the other person, able to see the other person without the aid of any device other than ordinary corrective lenses and able to communicate by unamplified voice with that person.
